Salts Tennis Courts - First phase of their refurbishment

Submitted on 23 August 2019 by STC Officers

Seaford Town Council is pleased to announce that a refurbishment program has commenced on the first two tennis courts at the Salts Recreation Ground next to the Salts Café in Seaford!

The courts have benefitted from weeding, cutting back of vegetation, and an extensive sweep of the court surface to clear away debris. The two tennis courts have new nets and posts and are free to use by tennis enthusiasts of all ages and abilities in the town.

Bring along your own racquets and balls, or sets are available to borrow from the Salts Café during opening times.

Maintenance has been carried out by our colleagues at Burleys, to bring the courts up to a playable standard while Seaford Town Council continues to work on securing funding to provide new court surfaces, lighting, fencing and booking system. To include your suggestions in the tennis court re-development process, please take part in our consultation now!

The refurbishment of the tennis courts was identified by users of the park as a desirable addition to the Salts during a public consultation which lead to the Salts Development Plan being adopted by the Council. At present Seaford does not have any other community tennis courts open to the general public.

Quote from the Seaford’s Mayor Councillor Nazish Adil “It gives me such a pleasure to announce that the Tennis courts at the Salts Recreational park are all set to be revived and available for the people to add to their routine and holiday activities. The Salts has been enhanced and advanced in facilities for the locals specially the young and the teens to make most of the summer break and add to another reason to be outdoors and enjoy the sun, the sea and the greens of our beautiful town. These courts will be an opportunity for everyone to practise and master their skills while having fun competitions with family and friends.

Seaford Town Council is striving hard to promote the park and activities around town for us all. A huge thanks to the team involved in making this happen.”
