Seaford Town Council are pleased to report that the new double railed cleft fencing, around the East and West Martello fields and north of the pump field, is now complete.
The former fencing was in a poor and scruffy condition, and in a general state of deterioration in need of frequent repair.
Replacing the fence is in line with the Town Council’s strategic objectives:
-To develop the cultural and economic well being of the Town
-To improve and maintain the recreational facilities of the Town
-To help the needs of the community
Cleft fencing is a rustic type of fence, with the posts and rails cleaved from sweet chestnut trees. It is sturdy, robust, hard wearing, and attractive, and is suitable as substantial and permanent fencing.
The project has been part funded through the Lewes District Council Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL)
