At its Planning and Highways Committee meeting last night (20th February 2025), the Town Council finalised its response to the Lewes Local Plan Consultation.
The Town Council's submitted response can be found on the Consultation Responses page here
Lewes District Council launched the first phase of consultation on the Lewes District Local Plan on 6th January which ends on 28th February 2025.
Phase one of the consultation regards the detailed policies for the plan area and considers sites within towns and a limited number of villages. The consultation includes four site allocations in Seaford: ESAP 18 – Talland Parade, ESAP 19 – Mardon Court, ESAP 20 – Former St John’s School and ESAP 21 – Land to the South of Chyngton Way.
The Town Council encourages members of the public to respond to the consultation
Full details of the consultation can be found on the Lewes District Council website here and hard copies can be read at Seaford Library and at the Tourist Information Centre.
Once on the Lewes District Council website, there are a variety of ways to respond. Each respondent is required to register and log in to a profile where you can then view or download and read the various consultation documents before completing the questionnaire. The questionnaire asks questions on proposed policy - you do not have to answer all of the questions - you can complete and submit the questionnaire answering as much or as little as you would like and then submit either directly if using the online questionnaire or by downloading, completing and uploading your questionnaire using the 'respond by uploading a response document' option.
The Town Council has shared its response to the questionnaire in a downloadable and editable format here - if members of the public would like to support what the Town Council has submitted, this can be downloaded and edited to put in individual details (name, what type of stakeholder you are etc.) and then submitted as the paragraph above.
Responses to the site allocations can be submitted by clicking on the 'respond to the Early Site Allocation proposals' box. Again, the Town Council has shared its response to the site allocations in a downloadable and editable format here - if members of the public would like to support what the Town Council has submitted, this can be downloaded/copied and/or edited and submitted as an individual.
The Town Council's responses were put together by gathering evidence, comments and concerns shared by members of the public at formal and informal meetings, and emailed into the Town Council. At the Planning and Highways meeting on 20th February 2025, the Town Council recorded a note of thanks to members of the public who contributed invaluable evidence, comments and concerns which have aided the Town Council in its response to the consultation on behalf of the town.
This is a Lewes District Council consultation, and Seaford Town Council is a consultee.
