Apprentice Chef – The View at Seaford Head

Do you have a passion for food and cookery that you would like to do for living? Are you keen to learn a life skill and develop your career? Are you looking to join a friendly team which focuses on getting the job done well and actually enjoying yourself too? This could be the position for you!

The View is a bar, restaurant and function venue that is set in the grounds of Seaford Head Golf Course. We are looking for an Apprentice Chef to join our kitchen team of four, catering from breakfast through to dinner for walk in customers, users of the Golf Course, private events, business functions and more.

Ideally you will have had some exposure to the requirements of working in a kitchen, through this having an understanding of the tasks at hand and now looking to begin your career and gain a qualification.

In return for an enthusiastic and loyal apprentice, The View will meet the costs of training, provide support and assistance to you at all times, offer generous staff benefits (including up to 50% off food and refreshments!) and give you the opportunity to learn and develop in a welcoming and challenging kitchen atmosphere, with a very enthusiastic and passionate Head Chef and kitchen team to support you on your development journey.

You will study towards a Commis Chef Level 2 NVQ, which is a dual delivery apprenticeship and will require some attendance at the Eastbourne campus of Sussex Downs Collge. So, in two years’ time you could be Level 2 qualified, have a whole range of skills learned and achievements on your cv and have created a memorable start to your chefs’ career within a great team!

You will work 37 hours per week over five days, across Monday to Sunday, and will receive a very generous holiday entitlement of 31 days per year. You will begin on £5.50 per hour and, providing you are on target, this will rise after six months and then again when you enter the second year of your apprenticeship.

For further information on this opportunity or an application form, please contact Craig Nicol, General Manager at The View, on 01323 890 139 or by email to craig.nicol@the-view.co.uk
